Ashton
Band Educator — Ithaca College B.M. Music Education
Ashton runs Hilton's full band program, which means flute students get a teacher with deep roots in woodwind acoustics and school-band technique. He studied music education at Ithaca College with an oboe concentration — direct experience with the breath-pressure and embouchure precision that woodwind playing demands — and taught high-school band and chorus for grades 5 through 12 before joining Hilton. That classroom background means he knows what Capital Region band directors are listening for, what NYSSMA adjudicators score, and how to prepare a student for a district All-State audition without guesswork.
Flute lessons with Ashton cover all ages and all starting points — from an elementary student picking up the headjoint for the first time to a high schooler refining tone and working through NYSSMA Levels 4 and 5. He teaches in person at Colonie Center and online.
