Hilton Music Center's Hilton School of Music offers the Capital Region's finest teaching staff for private lessons in many styles of music as well as a variety of musical instruments. You can expect your lessons at Hilton Music Center to be fun as well as educational. To encourage interest, our lessons are created from the style that appeals to each individual student. Music theory, and rearning to read music are added as students progress. With the right instrument, and a motivated teacher to keep the students interest, music lessons at Hilton music will be a rewarding experience.

Lessons are held once a week for a private 30 minute session. You may pick a day that works for you and call the store to find out about available times on that day.  Our teachers create a lesson program that best suits the students learning style as well as the type of music of interest.  Practicing daily between lessons brings fastest results. All lessons are customized to meet the students expectations and at their level of playing.

The best age for children to begin piano is around 5 or 6 however we do have a few teachers that will work with a 4 year old.  Otherwise drums, violin, ukulele, guitar and keyboards we suggest they are  school age.  Band instruments we recommend 4th grade students and of course adults.  We have many adults who are beginners as well as advanced players looking to learn new styles on all types of instruments.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Lessons Program

Do you offer music lessons online?
Yes!  For those who are more comfortable recieving their music instruction from home or for those times when there is inclement weather, our teachers are able to teach virtually so you never need to miss a lesson!

Am I too old to learn a music instrument?
Of course not! No one is ever too old to take private lessons. Our lessons are designed around the student's learning style and their individual goals. We make it fun and enjoyable learning the music that you want to play.

Are music lessons taught privately or in a group?
All music lessons at the Hilton School of Music are taught in private lesson rooms and are given one-on-one with the instructor. We welcome and encourage the parents of younger children to sit in on lessons if they wish!

How long is each music lesson and how often are they given?

Each Lessons at the Hilton School of Music is 30 minutes in legth. It is given once per week on the same day and at the same time.

Is there and application fee to sign up for music lessons?

No, we do not charge an application fee or any other fees.

What if I want to come more than once per week?
We find that a solid week of practice is necessary prior to the next lesson.  Coming in bi-weekly really does not benefit the student.

How old must my child be for private lessons?
We typically feel school age is best but depending on the child and their attention span we have some four year olds that do very well.  Parent involvement makes a big difference.

Do I have to learn to read music?
We have experienced and seasoned teachers who not only want to give their students the ability to love music but to be able to grow to their full potential.  Because it is all about the student and not in a group, each lesson is tailored to keep that student enthusiastic and with achievable goals whether it is more formal or not.

I have a special needs child. Are the Hilton School of Music teachers patient?
At the Hilton School of Music, we take great pride in having the Capital Region's most experienced and versatile music instructors. We will be happy to work with both student and family in finding the right fit to make the most rewarding experience possible.
