At Hilton, Eric teaches private guitar and bass lessons alongside all three Rock Band class tiers. His approach is calibrated to each group's age and experience level — patient with beginners finding their place in a lineup, direct with players ready to push harder. Guitar, Bass, Ukulele & Rock Band — 16+ Years at Hilton Music Center

John has been part of Hilton Music Center for more than 16 years — and he was a student here before he became a teacher, which says something about the place and about him. He started as a student of Hilton's prior to attending Schenectady County Community College, and that continuity of experience shows in how he teaches. John covers all ages and all styles, from the absolute beginner picking up a guitar for the first time to the advanced player who wants to sharpen their ensemble instincts.

Rock Band is one of his specialties. Whether the class is a group of 10-year-olds learning how a drum kit and bass guitar lock together, or adults revisiting rock music they loved in their twenties, John builds the class around where the group is and what they want to play.

What You'll Learn in Rock Band Class

1. Forming a Band and Finding Your Role

Every rock band class starts with the same question: who plays what? Students sort out their roles — electric guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or lead vocalist — and begin to understand how each part fits into the whole. This isn't just logistics; it's one of the core skills of ensemble playing.

Jr Rock Band (Ages 13-18)

Adult Rock Band (Ages 18+)
